Purchase of equipment needed for development of the router and related projects, as well as possible minor development of equipment needed. Examples of what would be purchased include relatively entry-level FPGA boards and Ethernet PMODs. equipment: * HyperRAM larger (256 mbit) https://1bitsquared.de/products/pmod-hyperram * OrangeCrab larger (85F) https://1bitsquared.de/products/orangecrab * ethernet https://www.waveshare.com/dp83848-ethernet-board.htm * Digilent Arty-A7-100t - https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/digilent-inc/410-319-1/9445912 - https://digilent.com/shop/arty-a7-artix-7-fpga-development-board/
the OrangeCrab 85F apparently comes with 512MiB (4Gbit) of DRAM
Sorry for the late response Jacob, just got round to it... On Farnell I can buy the orangecrab no probs: https://uk.farnell.com/hackster-launch/orangecrab-r0d2-85/dev-board-ecp5-85f-512-mib-fpga/dp/3651572 Orangecrab £129.04 VAT: £25.81 Total: £154.85 (Free delivery) However I haven't found the Hyperram module on a UK site, so I'll have to get it from the 1bitsquared site. Should I get the 64Mb or 256Mb?

(if you don't already have one). https://www.amazon.co.uk/DSD-TECH-adapter-FT232RL-Compatible/dp/B07BBPX8B8/ although this one's cute https://www.amazon.co.uk/Soldering-Adjustable-200-450%C2%B0C-Desoldering-Stripper/dp/B07Q4T12PH i got one with a multi-meter (woo!) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Adjustable-Temperature-Desoldering-Electronics-Maintenance/dp/B09CKQZRQ8/ ironically it is missing 2x AAA batteries but hey so, more like 300 quid.

I'm not in a hurry, so hopefully can get away without external RAM for now. The FedEx one is $65 is a bit steep, given the module costs less haha! > > you'll also need an FT232R > > https://www.amazon.co.uk/DSD-TECH-adapter-FT232RL-Compatible/dp/B07BBPX8B8/ I have one, but better to get a dedicated one for libresoc dev work. > and a soldering iron kit. > (if you don't already have one). Luckily I invested in a hakko many years ago. Although a new soldering tip would be useful (my ones are pretty worn out). Conical (or "horseshoe") tip is very versatile, usually way more usable than the pencil tip. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hakko-T18-C1-Soldering-FX-888-FX-8801/dp/B004OR7UBM > > i got one with a multi-meter (woo!) Ooh, very nice. At some point I'll upgrade my multimeter...some day XD > so, more like 300 quid. Sure. I'll document my expenditures. If there are left over funds I'll leave them for other miscellaneous components/tools.

NLNet is asking, is this budget to be requested by him for some other purpose in another task? What is the description of this task? I don't think it's the case of moving the budget to another task. Instead, it's just that the exact same hardware was acquired with the funds from another grant (the Gigabit NGI grant, for FPGA testing) so, to avoid duplication, Luke removed it from this task, allowing more people to have boards. I'm supposing this hardware, acquired on the NGI Gigabit grant, for FPGA testing, did serve as well for this grant, so no repurchase was needed.
